Aims

The MSc «Informatics & Telematics» aims to provide specialized knowledge in advanced topics and applications of Information Technology and Telematics, especially in the fields of data management and artificial intelligence, cloud and internet of things technologies and infrastructures and the development of applications in this environment, as well as in the use of information systems in the management of businesses and organizations and digital transformation. Its graduates will be able to meet the needs of public and private institutions, to participate in high-level research and development and to produce new scientific knowledge.

The MSc aims to:

  • provide of specialized knowledge in modern areas of Information Technology and Telematics, so that its graduates are able to meet the needs of public and private institutions
  • develop high quality student research, funded by the Programme's resources
  • produce and promote new scientific knowledge
  • promote excellence, rewarding outstanding students
  • provide continuous support of graduates, through the University's Career Office

Through a modern educational program and utilizing technical infrastructure of asynchronous (distance) education, the MSc aims to:

  • develop a framework for research and teaching cooperation with University Institutions and other institutions in Greece and abroad. 
    • As a result of this effort, a significant number of lecturers come from universities in Greece and abroad, as well as from public or private institutions and organisations.
  • to support the travel of students and teaching staff to research centres or Universities in Greece and abroad, for the purpose of conducting research and participating in conferences,
  • the promotion of students' research work in international and Greek conferences, where students are invited to present their research work.

The priority research areas of the department are:

  • Data Science and Algorithms (Big Data Management, Semantic Web and Knowledge Graphs, Data Mining, Statistics and Applications, Computational Theory, Algorithms and Programming Languages)
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (Machine Learning Methods and Algorithms, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision and Robotics, Recommendation Systems
  • Advanced Computing Systems (Green Computing, Autonomous, adaptive and human-centered systems, Responsible Computing, Cybersecurity and cryptography)
  • Internet of Everything and Next Generation Networks (Internet of Everything Applications and Services, Intelligent Transport Systems and Autonomous Driving, 6G Technology Networks)
  • Technology Management - Information Systems (Information Systems Management, Digital Transformation and Innovation, Adoption of Disruptive Technologies, Economics of Emerging Technologies)

Graduates from all three tracks have exceeded 450 since the start of the postgraduate programme in 2012
